By creating an account or using Bedside, you agree to these terms.
Bedside is a personal notetaking tool for medical students and professionals. It helps you record and organise your own notes and look up reference information.
Bedside is not:
Reference data (disease classifications, medication listings) is provided for lookup convenience and may be incomplete or out of date. Clinical judgement is yours. You are responsible for anything you record, and for any decision you make.
If you choose to record information about real patients, you are responsible for doing so lawfully and in line with your professional and institutional obligations — including any duty of confidentiality, record-keeping requirement, or rule about where patient information may be stored.
Bedside gives you tools to protect that information: end-to-end encryption, encryption on your device, and an optional app lock. Using them, and deciding whether Bedside is an appropriate place for a given piece of information, is your call.
You need an account to use Bedside. Sign-in is via Google or a one-time code sent to your email — there is no password.
Keep access to your email secure: anyone who can sign into your account can reach your notes. One account is for one person; do not share it.
You may register a limited number of devices per account. You can remove devices at any time from your account settings.
Free. Bedside is usable indefinitely without paying, with limits on how many notes and folders you can keep, and without cloud sync, export or the Patients features.
Trial. New accounts get a 7-day trial with the paid features unlocked. Volume limits still apply during the trial. No payment details are required, and the trial does not convert into a paid subscription by itself.
Subscription. Paid plans are billed monthly or yearly through Stripe at the prices shown at purchase. Founder pricing, where offered, is locked for as long as your subscription remains continuous — switching between monthly and yearly keeps it; cancelling and resubscribing later does not.
Renewal and cancellation. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel any time from within the app or the billing portal; you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not provide refunds for partial periods, except where consumer law requires it.
Price changes. Any change applies to new purchases and to renewals after we have told you in advance. It never changes the price of a subscription you already hold while it remains continuous.
Your notes are never held hostage. If you stop paying:
Your notes are encrypted so that we cannot read them. The unavoidable other half of that: we cannot recover them either.
If you lose access to all your devices and your transfer code, your encrypted cloud data is permanently unreadable, by anyone, including us. We are telling you this plainly because there is no support request that can undo it. Keep your transfer code somewhere safe.
Don't use Bedside to break the law or violate someone else's rights, don't try to circumvent its limits or protections, don't attempt to gain access to other users' data, and don't resell or redistribute the app.
We may suspend or close an account that does these things.
We aim to keep Bedside working but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Bedside is designed to work offline — your notes remain available on your device whether or not our servers are reachable.
We may change or discontinue features. If we ever discontinue the service entirely, we will give reasonable notice so you can export your data, and your local notes remain yours regardless.
Bedside is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost data, or for any clinical decision made using or informed by the app. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing here limits rights you have under Brazilian consumer law (Código de Defesa do Consumidor) that cannot be limited by agreement.
You can delete your account at any time from within the app. Doing so cancels any active subscription, and deletes your account and encrypted cloud data. Notes on your device are deleted only if you choose that option.
We may update these terms. If a change is material, we will tell you in the app and update the date above. Continuing to use Bedside after that means you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of Brazil, and disputes fall to the courts of the user's domicile where consumer law so provides.
